San Antonio must modernize our approach to public safety to fit the needs of our communities producing neighborhood stability. We must invest in individuals and communities by shifting dollars into structural solutions to address San Antonio's increasing poverty rate by, appropriately funding metro health, domestic violence prevention, youth centers, substance improvement centers, transitional housing and far more.
Together with community, we have:
- Funded additional SA CORE team: a specialized unit to respond to mental health calls
- Proposed and secured Cellebrite for San Antonio Detectives to have the tools necessary to solve cases
- Voted to hire more Animal Care Officers increasing ACS Officers to a historic size
- Secured over $12.5 Million for the construction of a new Fire Station
- Ensured formerly incarcerated individuals have access to employment opportunities via Ready to Work Programing
- Secured funding for the first time in history to support the San Antonio Youth Commission
- Continues to support and advocate for funding for the Mobile Integrated Healthcare Unit
Together with community, we will continue to:
- Invest in community-led practices and strategies ensuring budgets are aligned with community need
- Expand work and housing opportunities for folks impacted by the criminal justice system
- Prioritize sufficient funding for domestic violence shelters
- Dismantle practices of criminalizing poverty
